Two Simple Tips

As far as food combinations go, one good rule of thumb is to limit the number of raw foods you eat alongside cooked foods. This is bound to happen from time to time, certainly, but limiting the frequency that you blend these two categories is a step you can take. Likewise, do your best to limit how often leftover foods are combined with fresh foods in your meals. If you are going to eat leftovers, like for lunch the next day, consider eating those on their own and having fresh new foods at another time.

More Important for Some Than Others

For some people, digestive issues just don’t seem to be much of a problem. If you tend to have a strong digestive system that ‘burns’ through most of what you send its way, you might not be as sensitive to food combinations as others. This is a great thing, of course, and the food combinations that tend to be bad for many people might not wind up bothering you at all. Even if that is the case, you can still pay attention to this topic and take note if there are any combinations that seem to disrupt your system.

An Established Tolerance

In some cases, people who have been eating certain combinations of food together for a long time may have no problem with those combinations, while another person who doesn’t normally eat those foods together may struggle with indigestion or other issues. If you see someone else eating a combination of food that gives you trouble but doesn’t bother them at all, don’t assume that you are doing something wrong or that you should be able to handle it. It may be that this other person has been eating that kind of combination of many years and has adjusted to it as necessary. For example, milk and bananas are a combination that will give many people trouble, so that is one that is recommended to avoid. However, some people might be able to handle it just fine, depending on their own personal digestive system and their dietary history. That doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to manage milk and bananas without trouble, as this is a pairing that leads to digestive problems for plenty of individuals.
